Saturday 8th May 2021

After a wet night and morning and with the game in doubt, the 2 sides agreed to a late start and a 30 over match. On winning the toss the skipper decided to bowl and with the team taking consistent wickets bowled Wisborough Green out for 91 runs.

Excellent bowling spells and wickets shared between I. Homewood 3 for 22, A. Homewood 3 for 12, A. Livermore 2 for 15 and S. Livermore 2 for 28. This was backed up with some excellent fielding with 2 exceptional catches from D. Livermore and the skipper.  I must say though that the skipper dropped the easiest catch you will ever see, which I’m sure he will be reminded about for weeks to come. M. Scerri and D. Sopp opened the batting for Storrington and quickly knocked off the 92 needed to win with Miles finishing on 52 and Doug on 34.

Well batted both of you. This meant a well deserved 10 wicket win. A special mention for the Saturday debutant  Craig Johnson as I forgot to mention his t20 wicket in midweek. He is going to be a great asset to the squad. Onwards and upwards to next weeks game at home to Portslade and hopefully another win.

Storrington Swans win maiden Sussex Slam match

After a disappointing first league game on Saturday the Swans started their first ever Sussex Slam game. The match was reduced to a 15 over a side game due to inclement weather and after winning the toss the captain decided to bat first.

There were 4 new signings to the franchise team which cost the squad a lot of money to get their services, well 2 pints and a bag of crisps each. After a shaky start the new guys came into their own with Will Whitehead scoring 20, Craig Johnson 32 and Guy McKilligan 21 not out.

The team scored an impressive 136 in there 15 overs. In their innings Findon were pegged back by accurate bowling from the start and never got close to our target and finished on 91 for 7 with the skipper having the luxury of using 8 bowlers. Wickets were shared between Andy Livermore 1, Charlie Brown 1, Miles Scerri 1, Rin Tomsett 2 and Guy McKilligan 1.

A great team performance from everybody and a great start to our Sussex slam campaign.
