On a calm May Saturday, Storrington CC fielded a league second XI for the first time in 7 years. After losing the toss, Skipper McKilligin and his side were invited to bowl first on a green but good wicket.
Opening bowlers Jamie Fisher and Gary Elliot started with good pace and accuracy, leading to the visitors losing 3 early wickets in the first 8 overs, following sharp catches from Sub fielder Martin Fisher, David Livermore and a sharp caught and bowled from young Jamie Fisher.
After a good opening spell of bowling, on came the reliable James Harrington and Andy Livermore bowling a consistent line and length resulting in a wicket each, helped by some brilliant tight fielding from the side.
Guy Humphries entered the attack and rattled through his allocation of 8 overs, for 22 runs, picking up the wicket of Worthing’s best batsmen.
Gary and Jamie then returned to the attack to polish up the Worthing tail, finishing with impressive figures of 4-13 and 3-10 respectively. A brilliant effort with the ball and in the field from the Swans 2nds, as Worthing were all out for 96.
Shane Fletcher and Tom Fisher opened the batting for Storrington and raced to a partnership of 25 before Tom was trapped LBW. Gus Humphries joined Shane and they soon pushed the total into the 80s before Shane was bowled for a cracking 46 on debut.
