SCC UPDATE

16/5/2020

A quick update regarding membership at Storrington Cricket Club (SCC) and the use of the nets as guided by the ECB. You may have received an automated email asking to renew your membership. SCC understands that during these unpresented times paying your cricket membership may not be top of your priority list, because of that we are not proactively chasing up fees at the moment. If you have paid or wish to pay, thank you very much.

The Sussex Cricket League is still planning for the eventuality that some cricket games will happen in the second half of the season and they are still hoping to arrange some cricket festivals and leagues for the juniors. Obviously at the moment nothing is confirmed and we await further news and guidance from the government and then the ECB.

In the meantime the ECB has allowed clubs the opportunity to utilise outdoor facilities when a representative of the club is onsite. As this currently isn’t feasible, we can only open the nets for use by the coaches and their families at the moment. As per ECB guidelines we now have a booking form live on our website, if you are a coach and wish to use the facility please use the booking facility to book a session so that we can manage the bookings accordingly. https://www.storringtoncricket.club/book-online

Important information from the ECB is:

Summary of guidelines for outdoor cricket facilities use

In summary:

  1. You can exercise outdoors on your own, with members of your household or with one other person from outside your household while keeping two metres apart at all times. You must only exercise in groups of no more than two people, unless you are exercising exclusively with members of your household.

  2. Social distancing of at least two metres must be maintained at all times (unless all participants are members of the same household).

  3. Nets should be used on an ‘every other’ basis, leaving one net free between nets.

  4. Clubhouses can be reopened in a limited way for operational reasons (e.g. for access to first aid equipment) or for toilet access (see below) but all communal areas including bar, changing rooms etc are to remain closed for general use.

  5. Toilet facilities can be opened if the venue wishes, but particular care should be taken by those using them and those cleaning them. Where they are open, venues must ensure soap and water is provided.

  6. No indoor activity at all.

  7. We recommend using your own equipment if possible. If equipment is being shared, please follow UK Government’s guidance on the sharing of equipment.

  8. No saliva or sweat should come into contact with the ball at any time.

  9. Wash hands at home before and after using the outdoor facilities. Bring your own hand sanitiser where possible.

We expect these guidelines to change as the weeks move forward and as such, the hope is that we can increase the usage of the net facility to other families/members who have paid their membership for this season (for insurance and liability purposes). Again, we shall be guided by government advice and direction from the ECB.
